LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) - An 80-year-old Corydon woman isn't slowing down.

She's celebrating 25 years of working the early shift at McDonald's.

Mary Ann Brown started in 1990, and she's stayed at the same location ever since.

"I knew something was up," Brown said of Friday's celebration. "It's just overwhelming. I'm always the person in the background. I'm not an upfront person. So it's kind of humbling."

Family and friends gathered at the McDonald's off Highway 135 to show appreciation for Brown's service on the early shift.

McDonald's area supervisor Melissa Humphrey says she still recalls the days when she began working with Brown as a teenager.

"I can remember times when I was 16 and she'd say "Oh you know your mom wouldn't approve of that!"

Employees at the store got Brown a trophy, glass french fries engraved with her name commemorating the 25 years.

"You know, when I started, the minimum wage was $3.90," Brown said. "That's what I made."

Brown was also given a journal, full of notes and well-wishes from loyal Corydon customers from over the years.

"You have to stick with it," she said. "Some days, you might get punched pretty hard ... but you roll over and you get back up."
