LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Day 1 brought noise, heat and a little late-night storm, which wrought havoc on some of the temporary structures and tents -- hence the evacuation.

While the storm didn't cause any major issues, it did delay the gates being opened until 1:30-1:45, but they didn't actually open until after 2 p.m.

Outsides the gates, music fans were fanning themselves and starting slow claps and chants.

"People are maintaining," Mark Sloane said, "There's been a few vocal ones." He said he got in line about 1 p.m. and wished organizers had told him sooner about the delay.

"They would've pushed it out," he added. "They would've said don't come down here for another couple hours and it would've been fine."

The change was announced on social media and via the festival app a little after 1 p.m.

The schedule has been delayed a little, and you can find an updated one on the app or you can find the new times here now.

Officials say a few structures and tents had to be moved, and some new areas had to be created or rearranged. Even with the delays, most vendors were in position and ready for the scheduled 12:30 opening, but My Morning Jacket was still going through a sound check until almost 2 p.m. The show must go on. The ship must sail. Choose your metaphor.

The key to the day is still beating the heat, you can find some tips for doing that here.

Be prepared for day 2 with our list of don'ts (you've heard these before):

  • Don't forget to hydrate. This is simple. You should already know this. Visit the free water stations.
  • Don't forget sunscreen. Come on, you should have known this from our preview.
  • Don't pass out in the sun. If you're gonna "nap," find shade and stay out of the way.
  • Don't miss My Morning Jacket. It's why we're all here this weekend.
