Cole's Night Club owner says weekend violence was an 'isolated incident'
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Crystal Teasley and her son were on the dance floor when bullets started flying at a night club Saturday, injuring a pregnant woman and six other people.
"Everybody was having a good time and right at 3:00 shots got fired," Teasley said.
It was 3:00 in the morning Sunday when a gunman sprayed bullets inside Cole's Place on West Kentucky Street.
Crystal Teasely's son was one of seven victims and, at the time of this posting, was still in the hospital recovering.
"My son was like 'I'm hit,'" she said. "We turned around and he was on the ground along with my nephew and three or four other people."
She said it was chaos inside the club after they heard the shots and she never saw the shooter.
"It happened so quick, all you heard was gun shots and everybody took off running," Teasley said. "I was mostly worried about my son because I had to take him to the back of the club to the front."
Teaseley's son Kendall is in pain but is expected to be okay.
One of the other victims is a pregnant woman, whose baby, authorities say, was also shot.
Doctors delivered the baby and the little girl is expected to survive, along with her mother.
The owner of Cole's Place says his business has plenty of security.
He believes the gunman jumped the fence in back.
"Maybe I have to see about getting some more police," night club owner John Cole said. "If I could put a police on every corner and make it like Fort Knox...in eight years, ain't nothing ever happened here. It was an isolated incident."
No arrests have been made, but police say they believe the shooter is a black man who was wearing all white at the time of the shooting.
If you know anything about this case, you're asked to call 574-LMPD.
