LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A jury decided Monday a JCPS teacher did have a sexual relationship with a former student.

Scott Quisenberry was found guilty of three counts of rape and four counts of sodomy Monday afternoon.

He was accused of having a sexual relationship with one of his students from 2009 to 2012. When it started, she was just 12-years-old.

Quisenberry's family and attorneys left the courtroom without speaking.

The victim's family also didn't comment, but Assistant Commonwealth Attorney Alicia Gomez says she is 'ecstatic' with the outcome.

Quisenberry was the girl's teacher at Bullitt Lick Middle School, in Bullitt County, before working at Kerrick Elementary for JCPS.

"When you look at it ladies and gentlemen from the big picture, it's just, it's just hard to believe that any of this could have been going on," his attorney Ken McCardwell told jurors.

Closing arguments came Monday, the trial entering its third week.

"There's no any physical evidence whatsoever," McCardwell said. "We have essentially testimonial evidence."

Both Quisenberry and the victim did take the stand during this trial.

The victim testified she was friends with Quisenberry's daughter and would spend the night at his house.

She says the relationship escalated to oral sex, then intercourse.

"We asked her to give as many specifics as possible about something in her life that she has tried to block out," Gomez said in court.

She called Quisenberry a wolf in sheep's clothing.

"I want you to see Scott Quisenberry for the wolf he is and find him guilty," she said.

After about four and a half hours of deliberation, the jury agreed.

Quisenberry was taken into custody after the verdict and his bond was raised to $75,000 full cash.

The penalty phase of this case is set to begin Tuesday morning.

Prosecutors say he faces a maximum sentence of 20 years.
