CRAWFORD | Louisville picked to finish third in ACC Atlantic, Clemson tabbed as favorite

PINEHURST, N.C. (WDRB) — For a second straight year, the University of Louisville football team has been picked to finish third in the Atlantic Coast Conference Atlantic Division in a vote of media at the league’s annual media days.

U of L picked up 746 points and one first-place vote. Clemson led the Atlantic Division balloting with 1,032 points and 101 first-place votes. Florida State was second with 992 votes.

The Tigers also have the ACC preseason player of the year in quarterback Deshaun Watson, who beat out Pittsburgh running back James Conner and Georgia Tech running back Justin Thomas at the top of the balloting.

Injuries sidelined Watson for part of his last season, but the Gainesville, Georgia native still threw for 1,466 yards and 14 touchdowns against only two interceptions eight games. He also ran for five touchdowns and 200 yards on 63 carries.

Georgia Tech was picked to win the Coastal Division.
