LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A Louisville man accused of murder is facing a brand new charge.

Henry Richard Gleaves II, age 20, was arrested for Jan. 9 shooting death of a man at the Fern Valley Hotel and Conference Center, on Fern Valley Road, near I-65. Police say the body of 20-year-old Shermon Edwards was found in the parking lot. Edwards was from Indianapolis.

Gleaves was arrested days later and charged with murder.

On Monday, July 20, Gleaves faced a brand new charge. Police say that on Jan. 13, shortly after he was arrested, Gleaves was on a recorded jail phone call in which he instructed two people to destroy evidence related to the homicide.

One of those people allegedly told Gleaves -- during the call -- that the evidence had been destroyed.

During a June 30 recorded interview with police detectives, that person told investigators that the evidence had been disposed of, according to an arrest citation.

In addition to murder, Gleaves is now charged with tampering with physical evidence.
