Louisville Water Foundation donates $200K to assist struggling customers

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The Louisville Water Foundation, the charitable extension of Louisville Water Company, will provide $200,000 in 2015 to assist customers who struggle to pay their water and sewer bill. At the Foundation’s quarterly meeting on July 21, the directors finalized the local entities that will administer the funds.

The Foundation partners with three organizations in Jefferson, Bullitt and Oldham counties (Louisville Water’s service area) who work directly with customers needing assistance. In Jefferson County, Community Ministries distributes funds; the American Red Cross assists in Oldham County and the Multi-Purpose Community Action Agency is the Bullitt County liaison.

Funding for customer assistance comes to the Foundation from Louisville Water and Louisville MSD.  Louisville Water contributes a percentage of the revenue from its water-line protection program. Louisville MSD provides a $100,000 donation for customer assistance.

Louisville Water created the Foundation in 2013 to further its mission of improving public health and the quality of life in the communities it serves.  The Foundation’s primary mission is water assistance and water education.
