LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- From the farm to west Louisville, teenagers are helping provide fresh vegetables and flowers to those with limited access.

Some teens involved in the Mayor's SummerWorks Program are learning to grow produce at Oxmoor Farms. They're taking part in the Youth Community Agriculture Program.

On Tuesday, they visited the Strothers Senior Apartments on Dixie Highway.

The tenants don't always have access to fresh vegetables in west Louisville.

Teenagers handed out fresh produce and flowers.

They say it's helping to prepare them for the future.

“I just want to spread the knowledge as much as I can, everything that I've learned, because I don't know everything, but with the little bit that I do know I want to use that to help to grow the community in a positive way,” said DeAndrae Hughes, one of the participants.

Teens involved in the program also help grow produce that is used at a local Farmers Market.
