LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Louisville Metro Police have arrested a woman authorities say committed insurance fraud.

Amarilis Naranj-Hernandez, 44, was arrested Tuesday morning on National Turnpike for allegedly selling fraudulent auto insurance policies to multiple victims.

Official police records state that Naranj-Hernandez sold insurance cards to victims that appeared to be legitimate, but an investigation determined the cards were fake.

Authorities say Naranj-Hernandez took money from victims and completed tasks that are normally performed by licensed agents.

According to police, multiple fraudulent insurance cards were found at Naranj-Hernandez's place of business during a search.

A police report states that seven victims lost a total of $1,770.

Naranj-Hernandez has been charged with insurance fraud and theft.
