LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- St. Matthews Police have arrested two man in connection with a murder earlier this month.

It happened just before 2:30 a.m. on July 16, at the Mallgate Apartments on Quails Run.

Police say 20-year-old Andrew Z. McAllister and 19-year-old Carmon A. Tussey, along with another accomplice, robbed the victim, 24-year-old Miguel Macias. During the course of that robbery, Macias was fatally shot.

Police say they plan to arrest a third suspect soon.

Darren Hodge, a witness, described the situation moments before the shooting.

"By the time I got back, went to the bathroom and you heard a bunch of bickering and fussing," said Darren Hodge.

Hodge says he saw the confrontation but never expected what happened next.

Hodge said, "and then it went from arguing - I heard a couple of gunshots that rang out."

Hodge said he and another witness tried to stop the confrontation.

"We was in the midst of it, me and him both got in the riff-raff of it," said Hodge.

But that's when they got a stern warning from suspects with a gun.

"Like I said, we was trying to break it up, but you getting guns pointed at your face," said Hodge.

Hodge said it was a robbery but the victim did not give up without a fight.

"He fought, he gave it his all, he tried, he ... did everything in his manpower that he could and it's really sad to watch him go in the way that he did," said Hodge.

By the time St. Matthews Police arrived, the victim had been shot to death and at least one person was stabbed. There were also multiple crime scenes.

"We have two scenes, one inside an apartment, one on the roadway, a short distance from here," said Officer Troy Armstrong, with St. Matthews Police.

Hodge told WDRB News that he and everyone else inside the apartment were questioned by police. Hodge said he also saw at least one suspect being taken into custody.

"From where I seen, when they took me in the police car, I seen one being pulled over, once you come out of here and you make a left before you get to the mall," said Hodge.

Meanwhile, Hodge said just hours before the shooting and confrontation, they were all having fun. "You know, we was all hanging out, listening to music, you know, tattoos and stuff."

And he thought there were no enemies here. "We was all friends here, we was all good friends," said Hodge.

McAllister has been charged with murder and first degree robbery.
