UPDATE: Neglected mastiff rescued by Arrow Fund adopted

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) – Moonpie, the mastiff who had a huge tumor on her foot, has been adopted.

The Arrow Fund, an animal welfare group, says Moonpie's foster family fell in love with her and couldn't resist adopting the dog.

The previously untreated tumor grew to four pounds, and the dog couldn't put down her paw.

The Arrow Fund rescued Moonpie and paid to have the tumor removed. According to the organization, Moonpie's former owner, Frankie Shields, never sought medical treatment for her, and allowed her to suffer.

Shields has been charged with animal cruelty.
