LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Police blocked traffic on I-65 North and the Watterson Expressway to transport a 2-year-old girl who was hit by a car Friday night.

On Saturday morning, a family member told WDRB that the girl was doing better. The relative said the child did not have any broken bones or internal injuries. The family member also said the child needed some stitches placed in her head and her lip.

Metro Police said the 2-year-old girl was in "serious" condition on Friday after she was taken to Kosair Children's Hospital.

The accident happened on Horncastle Way in southwest Jefferson County. According to police, she was hit by a family vehicle as they were working on the car.

Family members began to push the vehicle and she somehow got in front of it, police say.
