LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The 45th annual Dainty Contest scheduled Monday evening in Germantown.

Each year, hundreds line Goss Avenue near Hauck's Handy Store to watch the action.  Dainty is an old-time street game using a stick and a small peg that is tapered on the ends.  Competitors give it a hit on the pavement, flip it into the air, and then smack it down the street.  The winner hits the Dainty the farthest.

Participants have to be 45 years old. Dignitaries like Mayor Greg Fischer, Congressman John Yarmuth and others line up to take their three shots.  The action kicks off at 5:45 p.m.  It happens rain or shine. Bring your own chair.

You can stick around for the Schnitzelburg Prime Dinner, which is a handmade bologna sandwich along with a bag of chips and a huge dill pickl--sold for two bucks.
