LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A new Krispy Kreme Doughnut shop celebrated its grand opening in Jeffersonville Tuesday.

The new standalone store replaces the old store in Clarksville on Veterans Parkway.

The first 100 guests in line this morning received free doughnuts for a year, and a commemorative t-shirt.

The store will feature more than a dozen varieties of doughnuts, Krispy Kreme chillers, iced beverages and coffee blends.

The Jeffersonville Krispy Kreme is the first store in southern Indiana to make its own doughnuts.

"We're making fresh batches of doughnuts in the back," said Tony Thompson, president and CEO of Krispy Kreme. "They go through the proofing process, and then they're fried. Then they go through that nice, hot, glaze waterfall."

Krispy Kreme in Jeffersonville opens daily at 6 a.m.
