LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- No injuries were reported after an apartment fire on Vine Street Wednesday morning. .

Fire crews were called to the scene in the 700 block of Vine Street near Swan Street just before 10:30 a.m.

According to Assistant Chief Doug Recktenwald with Louisville Fire & Rescue, the apartment was occupied, with five people inside when the fire started. Other people live in the apartment, but Recktenwald says they don't believe they were inside.

Everyone made it out safely.

Recktenwald says they believe fire started on the second floor of the apartment building. It took 39 minutes to contain the flames.

The flames are now under control.

Robert Bancroft, a neighbor, says he spoke with one of the residents.

"I know she was crying and upset, and on the phone with somebody," he said. And they were telling us we needed to get out of the way -- to get further down. And thank God we did because when we got down further, it wasn't but about 10 minutes after I came out of the house, that a powerline caught fire and hit the ground. It was spinning like a snake and almost hit two firemen."

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
