Elizabethtown Police release more details on double shooting
LOUISVILLE, KY. (WDRB) -- Elizabethtown Police have released more details about a shooting that left one person dead and a second person injured.
Richard M. Cromwell, 20, from Radcliff, was shot multiple times after he broke into a home, according to a release from Elizabethtown Police.
Police say Cromwell was wearing black clothing, black gloves and had a bandana covering his face. His body was identified by family members, according to authorities.
Police went to a home on Washington Street, near Dixie Highway just before 1 a.m. on Tuesday. Elizabethtown Police said neighbors called police, after hearing a man yelling for help.
When police arrived, they found the man who lived in the home outside with multiple gunshot wounds. He was initially taken to Hardin Memorial Hospital and then flown to University Hospital in Louisville. Police say the man is still hospitalized in serious condition.
Cromwell was found inside the home, but did not live there, according to police. He was pronounced dead at the scene by the Hardin County Coroner. An autopsy is scheduled to be performed on Cromwell on Wednesday.
Police say evidence shows that Cromwell planned the robbery in order to get money and drugs that were in a safe located inside the home.
Officials say they believe other people were also involved in the incident.
This shooting is the first homicide in Elizabethtown this year, aside from two shootings involving police officers.
The investigation into the case continues.
