LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A woman is in trouble with the law after police say she left her 5-year-old son home alone.

According to an arrest report, police found the boy wandering alone in the street near the intersection of Ballardsville Road and Windy Willow Drive around 10:30 a.m. on July 29. The boy gave officers his address, and said he was home alone.

Officers took the boy home and went inside with him. They eventually found a phone number for the boy's father, who was at work. Police called the father, who immediately returned home. The father told officers he had left for work around 7 a.m. and left the child with his mother, 31-year-old Tomasa Sic Cua.

According to the arrest report, the boy's father told officers "the mother had to leave to run errands and did not want to wake the child up to take him."

Police say the mother's "neglectful actions caused a dangerous situation for the boy as he could have been killed or hurt by a passing vehicle."

Sic Cua remains jailed at Louisville Metro Corrections. She faces one count of wanton endangerment.
