LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Two people were taken tot University Hospital with serious injuries after a pickup truck collided with a train near Buechel avenue this afternoon, according to Louisville Metro Police. 

Police say the pickup truck was crossing railroad tracks on Crawford Avenue near the intersection of Crawford and Buechel Avenue about 3:00 p.m. when it was hit by a Norfolk Southern train. 

The driver and passenger in the truck were taken to the hospital with serious injuries. 

Louisville Metro Police say the Traffic Unit is investigating and the railroad crossing had lights flashing at the time of the collision.
