Louisville man charged with murder after beating a man Monday

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Louisville investigators say one man is dead after he was beaten.

The suspect, 46-year old Mark Murry, is currently incarcerated at Louisville Metro Corrections.

Neighbors say Murry and the victim had a violent history -- and that's not the only thing we've uncovered about him.

Louisville Metro Police say the city's latest murder victim was beaten inside an apartment on E. Breckinridge Street on Monday.

Lolly is a neighbor and doesn't want us to  share her identity, but she is sharing what she saw before and after the crime.

"He shut the door when he first came out, and when he went back in, and he kind of left the door open, and I said to my neighbor, I said, 'Oh, he's on the floor,' I could see his legs," Lolly said. "He looked real bad. Real bad. And then by that time, the officer came over and talked to her and I said whatever we knew to kind of tell him because he was gone."

On Monday, police arrested Mark Murry, 46, in connection with the death.

"Apparently, the two of them got into some sort of physical altercation which resulted in the death of the victim," said Louisville Metro Police spokesman Dwight Mitchell.

Murry made his first court appearance on Tuesday morning. A not guilty plea was entered on his behalf, and his bond was set at $500,000.

WDRB News has also discovered that Murry is on Kentucky's sex offender registry. This comes as a surprise to neighbors.

"You never know who you live around," Lolly said. "I had seen the guy that got murdered on Sunday night, and I could tell that maybe he had been beaten then, and he could barely walk."

But the history of violence between Murry and the victim is no surprise.

"I mean, he has came to me and told me that he has beaten him, he beat him that day," Lolly said.

Murry is scheduled to be back in court next Friday.
