Some Kentucky politicians oppose President Obama's power plant emissions plan

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A bi-partisan fight is happening in Kentucky to keep President Obama's power plant emissions plan from taking effect.

Democrat Jack Conway calls the plan a "job killing rule" that he'll fight in court as the state's Attorney General.

Conway's Republican opponent for governor, Matt Bevin, says the anti-coal rule would cause electricity rates in Kentucky to rise.

Kentucky U.S. Senator Mitch McConnell and Governor Steve Beshear are also against the plan.

Obama's plan would cut carbon dioxide emission by 32 percent by 2030.
