LACETT | Fern Creek softball coach, suffering from ALS dies

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, KY. (WDRB) – Stan Williams, the Fern Creek softball coach WDRB spotlighted Sunday, died Wednesday afternoon.

The Fern Creek All-Stars 16 and under coach had been suffering from ALS for over a year. Since the spring the 48-year-old had lost 100 pounds and could no longer speak.

Despite the disease he tried to attend every game and every practice.  He loved spending time with his daughter, who was the team’s starting pitcher.

Stan had hoped to join his team in this weekend's Babe Ruth World Series from Florida. At his request, his funeral will not take place until after the tournament.
