LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) - A Kentucky State Trooper killed in a car crash last week will be laid to rest today.

Visitation for Sgt. David Gibbs continues today at the Brown Funeral Home in Elizabethtown from 9 a.m. to noon, followed by funeral services at 1 p.m. at Severns Valley Baptist Church.

Police say Gibbs was driving a Kentucky State Police 2010 Ford Crown Victoria Cruiser westbound on KY Hwy. 210 on Aug. 7 when he lost control of the vehicle in a sharp, rain-soaked curve. The vehicle traveled into the oncoming lane and collided with a 2015 white Jeep.

Gibbs was pronounced dead at the scene by the LaRue County Coroner's Office.
