LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) - A back-to-school giveaway party Sunday made sure students are ready for the year, and it came at no cost to parents.

The party was held at Cane Run Elementary, and students from K-12 were given free school supplies like pens, paper, folders and other items.

They also received free meals, dental treatments and barbershop haircuts.

"It's important to help the community out," volunteer Ebony Pryor said." We understand and realize that parents are doing everything they can to make sure they have what they need, and we just want to be that help to them to get the children ready."

The event was sponsored by Cane Run Elementary and New Birth Church. There were enough supplies for 1,400 students.
