LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) – The Jeffersonville Police Department has cleared a man who was being investigated for "suspicious activity" near Maple Elementary, according to a news release.

Police had said the man appeared to be making contact with children at the school’s playground, but officials now say the man has cooperated with the police investigation and has been cleared of any suspicion.

The man was seen outside Maple Elementary School Friday and police released surveillance videos of his minivan in an effort to locate him.

"The white male, identified as an 88-year-old Jeffersonville resident, consented to an interview, provided a statement, and cooperated with every request from Jeffersonville Police Department investigators. Our investigation did not find any evidence of criminal intent of the subject’s actions on August 7, 2015," the news release states. "In addition, it was determined he did not threaten the safety of the students of Maple Elementary School by his actions on the aforementioned date."

Police say they reported the results of their investigation to the Clark County Prosecutor's Office. Chief Prosecuting Attorney Jeremy Mull declined to file criminal charges.
