LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Louisville Metro Police say a man has died weeks after he was shot -- and now the Homicide Unit is investigating.

According to LMPD spokeswoman Alicia Smiley, the shooting happened at just after 11 p.m. on July 5, on Quail Court, near Quail Hollow Road. Police say a black male in his 20s appeared to be suffering from a non-life-threatening injury. The man was taken to University Hospital.

But according to the Jefferson County Coroner's Office, that man, who has since been identified as 26-year-old Gene Cary, was pronounced dead just before 5 a.m. today -- over a month after the shooting. The cause of death is listed as a gunshot wound to the abdomen.

Smiley says no arrests have been made in the case, and police currently have no suspects.
