LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB News) -- Jeffersontown High School's site-based decision making council voted 8-3 to select Matt Kingsley to be the school's next principal during a special-called meeting on Tuesday.

Kingsley, who has served as Assistant Principal at DuPont Manual High School for the last six years, has been with JCPS since 2003.

"I've reached a point in my career where I want to lead a building on my own, and I felt Jeffersontown High School would be a great fit for me," Kingsley told WDRB.

Jefferson County Public Schools Superintendent Donna Hargens approved the decision late Tuesday night. Kinglsey will start at Jeffersontown Wednesday morning.

"It is a school that has a great structure in place, and I want to build upon that," Kingsley said.

Wednesday is the first day of school in Jefferson County Public Schools.

Kingsley was previously the Assistant Principal at the Academy @ Shawnee and a teacher at Moore Traditional High School.

Jeffersontown High is located in eastern Jefferson County and has an enrollment of about 1,350 students.

Once approved by Hargens, Kingsley will replace Marty Pollio, who was named the new principal at Doss High School in July.
