LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- There were tears of sorrow and tears of joy as 97,000 students in Jefferson County Public Schools headed back to class on Wednesday.

The district’s 4,400 preschoolers are expected to return on Aug. 25.

WDRB education reporter Toni Konz spent the morning visiting three schools – Louisville Male High School, Slaughter Elementary School and Ramsey Middle School – as part of our Back to School coverage.
