LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Louisville Metro Police say a four-year-old girl is in critical condition after an accident that took place on Fern Valley Road.

It happened at 10:30 Thursday morning in the 3300 block of Fern Valley Road, just west of Preston Highway.

According to Louisville Metro Police spokeswoman Alicia Smiley, a Ford minivan was pulling out of a parking lot and making a left, eastbound turn when he hit a Ford E150 work van already traveling on Fern Valley Road.

A four-year-old girl inside the minivan was rushed to Kosair Children's Hospital in critical condition. Police say the child was in a booster seat.

The girl's mother was taken to University Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The work van overturned, and the driver walked across the street to a nearby immediate care center, police say. His injuries are considered minor.

No charged are expected in the case, according to police.
