LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A new conference center opens its doors at the Old Walnut Street Development.

Located on West Muhammad Ali Boulevard, the $625,000 center was paid by a city grant and private donations. Mayor Greg Fischer calls it a smart investment in the Russell neighborhood.

"This facility is projected to support over 100 events during the year, serve over 8,000 people -- individuals, community organizations, families, businesses, weddings -- There will be a lot of joy spread in this building because of this investment," Mayor Fischer said.

The first event at the new conference center is an art show from nationally acclaimed sculptor Ed Hamilton.
