LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A 16-year-old autistic JCPS student who never got on the bus to go home Thursday afternoon was found early Friday morning and taken home.

Police did not release details about where 16-year-old Kyle Lein was located or where he had been for several hours, but say he was found shortly after 1 a.m.

Lein's family reported him missing after he never made it home from the Phoenix School of Discovery.

JCPS spokesperson Bonnie Hackbarth said late Thursday night a security team was reviewing video and searching the area for him.

LMPD said Lein was in school Thursday, but never got on the bus to go home.

WDRB will provide more information as it becomes available.
