LOUISVILLE, KY. (WDRB) – Lacking one man, not lacking any heart. The Louisville Cardinals gave the Puerto Rican Senior National Team all it had Thursday before falling 102-94 in overtime.
The Cardinals played Thursday without Chinanu Onuaku, who was suspended following an altercation during the post-game handshake in a loss Wednesday evening.
Damion Lee scored 29 points but missed an open three late in regulation that would have won the game for the Cardinals.
Louisville fell to 0-5 on its trip to Puerto Rico.
With Onuaku watching from the bench, the team got off to a solid start Thursday evening with Lee providing 19 first-half points on 6-8 shooting. The Cards led by as many as 13 in the second half before running out of steam as well as players. Four Cardinals fouled out in the loss.
Angel Daniel Vassallo led the way for Puerto Rico with 29.
The two teams play again Friday night at 8:00PM ET.
