LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- After a disappointing loss Wednesday night, the Cardinals gave the Puerto Rican Senior National Team all they had Thursday before falling 102-94 in overtime.

Louisville played without Chinanu Onuaku, who was suspended following an altercation during the post-game handshake in that loss Wednesday evening.

Damion Lee scored 29 points but missed an open three late in regulation that would have won the game for the Cardinals.

After Thursday night's game, Coach Rick Pitino talked about getting his team to have more fun with the games and how that translated to results on the floor.

Damion Lee

“I think today we really came together as a team.”

“We got back to U of L basketball, and that’s one thing that I think we were getting away from, trying to find our identity.”

“We needed to go back to basics and start from square one.”

“One thing I think we were doing was stressing the games.”

Donovan Mitchell

“The rest of the year, I think we’re gonna be perfectly fine.”

“We had plenty of talks with coach and one thing he said was get on them early, don’t come out flat.”

“Our big thing was hop on them quickly and let them come from behind.”

“It was the most serious film I’ve ever been though in my entire life.”

“We just all collectively played together.”

“It’s one thing coach always says, ‘the film never lies.’”

Jaylen Johnson

“We just came together and bonded as a family.”

“Whatever it takes to help our team out, we’re gonna do.”

“I feel like I attacked and drew more fouls.”

“I made some minor, like, mistakes, but I feel like I made more…smart plays than mistakes.”
