LOUISVILLE, KY. (WDRB) – Trey Lewis hit the go-ahead jumper to help the Louisville Cardinals rally from 13 points down to beat the Puerto Rican Senior National team 84-81 Friday evening in Manati, Puerto Rico.
The victory was the Cardinals first on their trip to Puerto Rico. They were 0-5 coming into the game.
The jumper by Lewis put the Cardinals ahead by one with 26 seconds to play. The Cardinals sandwiched a Quentin Snider layup between two defensive stops to guarantee the victory.
Lewis finished with 21 points but he had plenty of help. Three other Cardinals finished in double figures including Mangok Mathiang (19), Damion Lee (16), and a returning Chinanu Onuaku (11).
Louisville plays one more game Saturday in Puerto Rico before returning home Monday. Sunday’s exhibition game was canceled on Friday.
