High diver makes splash around the world

SANTA CLAUS, Ind. (WDRB) --It's midday at Holiday World. The family wants a break from the coasters.
They're filing in to High Dive theater to be entertained.

Entertainment is what they're getting. High-flying shenanigans, a diver on fire, and the main attraction-- the high dive.
There are "Oohs," "Ahs," and a lot of applause, but the mesmerized audience may not realize one of the performers is at the very top of her game.

Cesilie Carlton is known world-wide.

"Her attitude toward the sport is really where you can tell how she is where she is now," said teammate, Heath Hanselman.

Earlier this month, she was awarded the silver medal at the FINA World Championships in Russia.

"I don't know what there's not to love about high diving," Carlton explained.

A couple weeks before that, she made a splash at the World Cliff Diving Competition in Portugal.

"I won that competition, so I can't complain," she added.

Having a relaxed personality is part of being a diver. But, Carlton says fear is also very much a part of this process.

She's taken on dives as high as 70 feet in the air, and she's not a big fan of heights.

"You look down and hope that you get it right. I guess it's an incentive to do it right," Carlton said.

That technique is getting the job done.

Turning heads at her Santa Claus show, and allowing her to climb to new heights on the world's stage.

"She's really chasing that goal every time," explained Hanselman.

You can see Carlton in action, weekends only, from now until September 20th.
