USA Cares honors veterans at Bluegrass Harley Davidson

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) - Seventy years after the end of World War II, veterans were honored Saturday in Louisville for a different reason.

Saturday was the first ever Flags Ride for USA Cares at Bluegrass Harley Davidson.

The national organization helps veterans get assistance with things like their finances, housing and jobs.

If members can't help them for some reason, they'll refer them to another agency.

Outreach Coordinator Kelli Oakley says veterans have sacrificed so much and this is her way of giving back.

"It's been a mission of mine to just serve veterans," she said. "I didn't serve, but I need to serve them. I think it's my duty, and I love it."

The event included a motorcycle ride, T-shirts, a raffle, silent auction and a meal.
