Salvation Army changes registration process for Angel Tree program

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE Ky. (WDRB) --  The Salvation Army starts a new system today for enrolling families in the Angel Tree program.

The organization is streamlining registration by making advance appointments. People wanting Christmas assistance need to pick up an appointment letter in person.  The letters must be picked up between 9 a.m. and 4 :30 p.m in the front lobby of the Salvation Army M.A.L.E. campus on South Brook Street.

The idea behind the change says Major Roy Williams, is to ensure the process is more efficient for all involved.  “Having a set appointment time means registrants won’t have to spend hours waiting in line to go through the process, and it also allows us to better determine our volunteer needs to accommodate those families each day, ” said Williams.

Last year, the Angel Tree Program provided clothes, toys and food to more than 10,000 children and 4,000 families.
