LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Louisville Metro Police have arrested a woman police say assaulted victims inside a residence.

Melissa Lay, 31, was arrested Sunday just after midnight, according to the official arrest report.

Police say Lay went to a residence on Saturday afternoon and forced her way inside.

Once inside the residence, authorities say Lay allegedly began to verbally assault one of the victims.

Officials say two more defendants came to the home. Police say those two people, along with Lay, began to physically assault the victims. Police say a male victim became unconscious during the assault.

Authorities say a shot was fired near the heads of the victims, however police records do not specify which person fired the weapon.

Police records state that Lay was initially arrested on unrelated charges.

Investigators say during an interrogation, Lay confessed that she was inside the home and helped to assault the victims.

Lay is charged with wanton endangerment and burglary.
