Water main break closes part of Muhammad Ali Boulevard

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A water main break has part of West Muhammad Ali Boulevard closed.

Louisville Metro Police closed the roadway between 32nd and 34th Streets just after 5:30 a.m on Tuesday.

Kelley Dearing Smith from Louisville Water Company says Muhammad Ali will be closed for at least several hours.  Water company crews on site say the break is impacting only eight houses between 32nd and 33rd Streets. The road is buckling, so workers say it will take time to repair the eight inch main and repave the street.

The eastbound I-264 ramp to Ali reopened about 7:30 a.m., after standing water drained away. The ramp was not damaged.  But drivers will have turn left or go straight, as they exit the ramp. The repair is to the right of the break.
