LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A former Trinity High School teacher and football coach charged with child pornography has pleaded guilty to a number of charges after he was accused of using social media to get a 13-year-old boy in Texas to send him sexual pictures.

Patrick Newman pleaded guilty to a total of 19 charges. It's an open plea agreement, which means it was not part of a plea deal.

Court documents say 16 minors were involved in the case, ranging in age from 12 to 17. Three minors were from Kentucky -- two from the Louisville area.

Court documents also say he met a 15-year-old boy in person at least three different times and engaged in sexual acts and made videos of those acts. Newman shared those videos with other people.

Newman admitted to communicating with several boys over the last two years.

Investigators identified 16 different minors in several places in addition to Kentucky and Texas: Ohio, Indiana, North Carolina, New York, Utah, Colorado and also the United Kingdom.

His attorney, Brian Butler, still says Newman insists that none of the local boys were his students. Butler also says Newman is ready to take responsibility for his actions and knows what he did was wrong and wants to start the healing process.

Newman could be sentenced to life in prison.

He is scheduled to be sentenced on December 16 at 1:30 p.m.
