LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Construction workers are on a tight deadline at Xscape Theatres in Jeffersontown.
The clock is ticking to raise the curtain on this new entertainment venue for opening night.
"A lot of times it looks like we're not ready, but then a lot of the finishing touches get ready really fast,” said Scott Bagwell, Vice President of Operations for Patoka Capitol. Patoka is the New Albany group that owns Xscape Theatres. “It's nice to see it all come together. So we'll be okay."
Bagwell says blockbusters seen here will be a show to remember. "When you go out for a movie, you go for the experience. And we're going to offer the best experience in town,” said Bagwell. “They’re going to have Dolby Atmos, which is over 40 channels in those auditoriums each.”
Along with the superior sound, Bagwell said Xscape will have two 70-foot-wide theater screens, which will be the largest in Louisville. In addition, all of their moviegoers will be sitting in leather, reclining seats. Bagwell says the chairs are another feature exclusive to Xscape in Louisville.
The $15 million entertainment development will soon have company. Main Event Entertainment will offer state-of-the-art bowling, multi-level laser tag, high ropes adventure courses, billiards and interactive and virtual video games, with dining experiences ranging from fast-casual to fine dining and creative cocktails, beer and wine. It’s slated to open by summer 2016.
"We're hoping that this becomes an entertainment hub for Louisville,” Bagwell explained.
Xscape is expected to open on September 18. Bagwell says there are still 70 jobs available. If you're interested in applying, click here.
