Interior design students from Sullivan University design uses for Louisville eyesores

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- It takes skill and imagination to create a new use for some Louisville eyesores -- but interior design students from the Sullivan College of Technology and Design are up for the job.

They're creating new ideas for how to use a vacant, run-down building in the Portland neighborhood.

A project called "Opportunity Space" in Boston contacted the school for its ideas. It partners with Louisville and other cities across the country to help match buyers with properties that have potential.

Students spend the day measuring and taking pictures to create floor plans.

"Last year we did Louisville Gardens," said Randy George, Architecture Department Chair. "We came up with ideas like an indoor skate park, grocery store and things, and were able to create those ideas and present to whoever wants to buy the building as an option of another use for the building."

Once the plans are complete, Opportunity Space posts them on its website so anyone interested in buying the property can take a look.
