Shively Police: Woman prayed while robbing bank
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Shively Police have arrested a woman authorities say robbed a bank.
Yvonne Groves, 51, was arrested Monday afternoon at the U.S. Bank located at 4021 Dixie Highway. According to official police records, Groves robbed the bank just after 3:30 p.m. Monday.
Police say officers went to the bank in response to a hold up alarm.
According to police records, it was confirmed at the scene that the bank was being robbed and that Groves was still inside the bank.
Police records say Groves came out of the bank with a plastic bag and got into a vehicle in the bank's parking lot.
Authorities say bank management told police that Groves was the person who committed the robbery. Police records allege that Groves stole $465 in cash.
Officials say a bank teller said Groves "entered the bank, handed a note to her and demanded money."
Investigators say after putting money into a bag, Groves "began to pray to God and talked about the Devil prior to exiting the bank." Police say Groves also "spoke to God and referenced the Devil" both while being arrested and after she was arrested.
After officers arrested Groves, the money was returned to the bank.
Groves is charged with robbery.
