LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A record crowd of 9,434 packed into Louisville Slugger Field to see Louisville City FC take on the team's Major League affiliate Orlando City Tuesday night.

The high attendance mark for a soccer game at Slugger comes with just a few weeks left in the regular season, as Louisville City sits just above 6,500 for average attendance in its first season.

Just a day after talks with the mayor about the club's future in Louisville and the possibility of building a soccer specific stadium for the team, fans showed their support for the next level of soccer.

Star striker Matt Fondy put Louisville up 1-0 in the first half and City kept the pressure on the MLS side, which has struggled this season and ultimately lost to Louisville's USL side 3-1. Louisville netted two more goals in the second half, while allowing Orlando to pull just one back.

Orlando's star players, Brazilian sensation Kaka and U.S. National Team member Brek Shea, were both out Tuesday night with injuries. Louisville City put their best foot forward and looked for the victory from the first whistle to the last.
