'Splat Out Cancer' raises money with community art in downtown Louisville

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) - Hundreds of people tried to "splat out" cancer Saturday with a little bit of fun.

For only $25, people had the chance to catapult a paint-filled balloon onto a wall in downtown Louisville.

It's the first step in trying to reach the goal of raising $1 million for the University of Louisville James Graham Brown Cancer Center.

Splat Out Cancer organizers say everybody knows someone who's been touched by cancer.

"This is a fun way to bring some light and art to a real serious subject, and we think it's a great way to generate donations," creator Jerry Preyss said.

If you'd like to see the community art project, it's at the corner of 6th and Market Streets.

If you weren't able to attend Saturday, you can still donate here.
