LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Sophomore Emmitt Holt has been dismissed from the Indiana University basketball team and Freshman Thomas Bryant will be disciplined internally after both received citations from Indiana State excise police for underage alcohol possession nine days ago.
It was the second alcohol related incident for Holt since arriving at IU. He was the driver of a car that accidentally hit and seriously injured then-teammate Devin Davis. Holt had a blood-alcohol level of .025 at the time of the accident.
Here is the official release from IU:
"Sophomore Emmitt Holt has been dismissed from the men’s basketball program effective immediately for demonstrating exceptionally poor judgment in the circumstances surrounding his recent citation, particularly coming after his involvement in the Devin Davis accident which should have motivated him to make better decisions.
Freshman Thomas Bryant, as a result of his citation, is receiving internal team discipline and is subject to additional discipline for any future failure to live up to his responsibilities to the program."
Holt is the third IU big man dismissed from the program since the end of last season. Hanner Mosquera-Perrea and Davis were dismissed in May for "not living up to their responsibilities to the program."
