LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The future of a Louisville YMCA branch is in jeopardy as traffic at the Berrytown location continues to be low despite numerous efforts to boost attendance.

A number of concerned members showed up to a community meeting to discuss the branch's future with Greater Louisville YMCA's CEO Monday night.

The Berrytown branch is only open Monday through Thursday for just three-and-a-half hours each evening.

"I'm excited there are enough people out there that care enough to even show up tonight," CEO Steve Tarver said. "I'm surprised by that because it has not reflected the interest or support that this facility has received in the last few years."

One of the options on the table is merging the branch with the Watson Powell Senior Center next door.

Many members are concerned about the future of the Kids Cafe, which provides a well balanced meal to children in need three times a week.

No decision on the branch's future was made at the meeting Monday night.
