LMPD investigating a pair of shootings; Smoketown victim gravely injured

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Louisville Metro Police are investigating a pair of early morning shootings in Smoketown.

Officers were called to South Clay Street near East Kentucky Street just after 4 a.m. on Tuesday.   Two different calls were made about one house and another a few doors down.

LMPD spokesman Sgt. Phil Russell tells WDRB that one person was taken to University Hospital.  Homicide is investigating because of the severity of that man's injuries.

About the same time, a second gunshot victim was brought to University Hospital. There is no word on his injuries, but the proximity and timing of both men being shot is being questioned. But it has not been determined whether the shootings are related. Neither shooting has been ruled a homicide.
