LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A Louisville man is facing several charges after police say he tried to steal a vehicle from a car rental lot late Sunday night.

According to the arrest report, employees at Hertz Car Rental on Crittenden Drive noticed two suspicious men inside vehicles on the lot around 8:30 p.m. Police say a car had already been stolen from the lot earlier that day.

After the employees called police and gave a description of the suspects, officers located two men matching the description walking northbound on Crittenden Drive near the post office. The two took off running when they saw police, but officers say they caught up with Samuel Jenkins as he was trying to climb the "perimeter fence to the Louisville International Airport Air Field, which is a secured area protected by a 7- to 8-foot fence topped with barbed wire.

Police say Jenkins admitted he was trying to steal a white Chevy Malibu from the lot, when he and his accomplices were startled by employees.

Jenkins is now charged with theft by unlawful taking - auto greater than $10,000, fleeing or evading police, and criminal trespassing.
