LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Louisville Metro Police arrested two men authorities say beat a woman with a lead pipe.

Ernest Powell Jr., 50, was arrested Monday afternoon after police say he and Vernon Wolfork, 53, attacked a woman.

The official police warrant states that on Saturday, Aug, 29, Powell and Wolfork allegedly approached a female victim at the Wright Way Bar, located at 501 North 33rd Street, and began hitting the victim in the head and face with a lead pipe, which caused the woman to fall.

Police say that once the victim was on the ground, the suspects allegedly took the victim's iPhone 6.

The woman was taken to U of L Hospital. Police records state the victim sustained bleeding to her brain. Officials also say her jaw was broken in three places.

Authorities say the victim's phone was tracked to South 29th Street and Divinity Lane. When police arrived at the location, three men were there and officials say two of them matched a description provided by a witness. Police also say two men were wearing clothing that matched a witness' description.

According to police records, "an audible alert was sent to the victim's iPhone and the alert sounded from the pocket" of one of the men. Police then recovered the phone.

Powell, Wolfork and a third man were detained, according to police.

Authorities say after the Wolfork was charged, he admitted to being involved in the incident in a recorded statement.

Records state that Wolfork told officials he had been offered $1,500 by another man to assault the woman as retaliation for damaging a motorcycle. Officials say the men agreed to hurt the victim for the money.

Police say after the suspects beat the victim with the lead pipe, the woman's cell phone fell out. The suspects then took the phone and fled, according to police.

The suspects are charged with robbery and assault.
