LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Traffic congestion in Downtown Louisville during rush hour is expected to get better soon.

New ramps are opening Wednesday at 5 a.m. as part of the Ohio River Bridges Project. Drivers will be traveling on a new ramp over the Kennedy Bridge on I-65 South to either I-64 East or I-71 North.

Drivers will now split to the left to access I-64 East and right for I-71 North.

The old configuration was just the opposite.

There's also a new, temporary route for drivers on I-64 East headed to I-71 North. Drivers will now travel farther to the east before splitting to the left to access I-71 North.

Traffic is expected to move to its final configuration in late October.
